It is believed that approximately 400,000 lives have been taken during the Darfur genocide, along with more than 2.5 million men, women, and children forced to leave their homes and become refugees, running for their lives. Presently, hundreds of civilians are being killed and chased from their villages. With each passing month, thousands more of innocent men, women, and children are killed, beat, humiliated, and raped while the Sudan government turns a blind eye. International intervention has done little to alleviate the Genocide in Darfur, and unfortunately, the crisis in Africa seems to show little to no signs of slowing down. Hundreds of relief effort groups and petitions have begun in the United States, and in 2006, Congress passed a bill called the Darfur Peace and Accountability Act. Darfur genocide has yet to cease, and it is believed that still even today, hundreds of people are being ruthlessly murdered and uprooted from their homes. (Genocide Prevention).
